Buying your favourite products via eBay and Amazon, the e-commerce websites currently not operating inside Pakistan, is not a problem for Pakistani users anymore because a Lahore based Startup aims to enable them to shop goods from world’s largest e-business sites and get delivered things at their homes in Pakistan in 3-8 days.
PkShip.com, which has initially started its operations in Lahore and Karachi, offers per delivery charges as well as packages based on the weight of goods to be bought and delivered from via e-commerce websites.
But how would all this be done? To answer the question, the company says that it has a number of designated addresses in countries such as United States, Germany, China and the United Kingdom, which receive the items bought by Pakistani users. These PkShip agents later ship these items to customers’ addresses in Pakistan using a conventional delivery system of the company.
Moreover the payments process at PkShip is also pretty simple. It is currently using Easy Paisa, Cash on Delivery and Bank transaction as payments methods in Pakistan.
The company has announced charges as little as $15 per delivery of a 0.5kg package from the United States. It charges $12, $13 and $17 for shipment of packages of same weight from Germany, China and the United Kingdom. All of the rates include General Sales Tax (GST) however customers will have to pay charges for import duties by themselves.
It is also relevant to be mentioned here that eBay and Amazon are world’s largest e-commerce sites, but unfortunately, the two companies and hundreds of others do not offer their services in Pakistan.
The Ministry of Information Technology officials say that such websites will also start their operations in Pakistan as soon as the online payments methods like PayPal extend their business to the country.
